Robert M. Brown
President & CEO

Robert M. Brown is President, CEO and Chairman of American Asphalt Company. It is believed that the owner of the business is actually God, and Robert has been entrusted to manage these people and assets while he is here on earth!

Bob is the visionary of the business, looking for opportunities to grow the list of satisfied customers and also help the people grow who depend on the company for employment or economic benefit. Being a leader entails setting the “Core Values” of the company and maintaining alignment with them throughout the organization. These are the expected attributes and behaviors that are mandatory to be associated with Bob and the company.

In the past Bob grew up in a family business and later, in 1986, purchased the assets of a small asphalt company that he grew from 5 employees to its current 150 employees. This growth meant being a multi‐tasking entrepreneur in the early years and learning each facet of the business, to now having a dynamic management team to professionally manage the business. Bob feels it is true that to be successful, it is imperative to surround yourself with great people that are aligned in culture and brilliant in their own specialty field. This has been accomplished over time allowing the company to not only flourish, but to have the breadth to sustain challenges and the wide variety of talents needed to manufacture and place asphalt in almost any situation. The customers and people are our concern and Bob’s hope is that they will benefit greatly by doing business with American Asphalt Company, as all involved adhere to the core values and Christian principles.

Bob actively participates in the construction industry and in the communities in which he works and resides. He served as the President of the Board of the Food Bank of South Jersey for nine years and is a past chairman and current Emeritus board member of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of NJ. Bob actively participates in C12, a Christian Business Owners Group, Utility Contractors Association (UTCA), and New Jersey Asphalt Pavement Association (NJAPA)‐ former Secretary and Treasurer, New Jersey Business and Industry Association and The Builders League of South Jersey. Bob enjoyed being a
volunteer fireman for over 30 years in his “spare time”. In addition, Bob is involved in industry lobbying and political efforts, believing in the Merit Shop philosophy in which American Asphalt Company has been built.


Karen S. Littlefield
VP of Finance

Karen Littlefield joined American Asphalt Company in 2014 and brings a diverse financial, accounting and business experience to the company. Karen has worked in the construction industry her entire career, gaining extensive construction experience through senior accounting and management roles with well‐established heavy highway construction companies in the Southern New Jersey area. Karen is a member of the New Jersey Society of Public Accountants and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey. She earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Accounting from Richard Stockton College and her Masters of Business Administration from Rowan University.


Kevin Lenover
VP of Construction

Kevin has led both small and large teams and has managed budgets greater than $200 million. He is extremely worldly, as he has lead global teams with projects in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. Kevin is leading American Asphalt to become one of the most technologically advanced companies in our industry, all while focusing on growth and employee development. Kevin is a follower of Servant Leadership and finds that his greatest accomplishments are earned through helping others. He loves to travel and learn about new cultures. His family picks a new place each year to vacation and always make it a priority to learn as much as possible and give back to the communities, either by donating school and medical supplies, or donating their time to various organizations. Kevin calls it “vacationing with a purpose.”


James P. (Jim) Voytko
VP of Production/Operations

Jim Voytko joined American Asphalt Company in 2013. Jim brings with him over 45 years of experience in the asphalt, aggregate and the construction industry with more than 30 years at senior level positions. Jim’s responsibility here at American Asphalt Company is to ensure that the highest quality of materials and services are provided to all our customers.


John Krider
VP of Sales & Estimating

John joined American Asphalt Company in 2018 and brings an extensive amount of experience in estimating and developing cost saving plans for our clients. John spent his childhood learning the industry from the ground up working in the field with his father which gave him the perspective he uses today to diagnose a multitude of asphalt and concrete failures and develop the most cost saving cures for our clients. John enjoys his work but also loves to spend time with his wife and 5 children. An avid lover of all Philadelphia sports teams, and basketball coach to his sons.


Dave Sulkin
Business Development

Dave Sulkin brings to American Asphalt Company more than 30 years of experience as a senior level sales executive, general manager and business development professional. He joined American Asphalt in 2008 and developed a new division called American Asphalt Solutions. This division specializes in parking lot maintenance. When Dave is out of the office, he loves spending time at the beach with his wife of 46 years and their two children, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren!
